Callan Alexander is the man behind Brisbane electronic-beats project cln, and at just 22 years of age he is producing at a level of maturity that you just wouldn’t expect from someone so young.
After moving from South Africa to Brisbane in 2009, Callan began to embrace the wealth of amazing talent Australia had to offer. With the inspiration gained from his newly discovered peers, Callan has been meticulously refining the cln sound, and confidently staking his claim within the global electronic music world.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with his huge debut single ‘Better Than’, cln has released two very well received albums, ‘Sideways EP’ (2014) and ‘Found EP’ (2015), alongside a couple of chart topping singles (‘Mist’ and ‘Owls’), as well as a collection of remixes for the likes of Elephante, Katie Noonan, ODESZA, Wookie, Kilter & Leo Kalyan just to name a few.
During that time, Callan has also had the privilege of supporting some of his idols such as Kele Okereke (frontman of UK group Bloc Party), The Aston Shuffle & ODESZA here in Australia, while also supporting The Chainsmokers at Red Rocks Amphitheater in 2016 as part of his debut North American tour.
Callan is kicking-off of 2017 with the bar raised high as he finished composing a collection of music called ‘Glass Heart’ with Australian singer/songwriter Katie Noonan, under the artistic direction of renowned choreographer Amy Hollingsworth. ‘Glass Heart’ was then then performed live with the QLD Ballet over 6 sold-out shows at the Brisbane Powerhouse in February, as part of their contemporary dance program, Bespoke.
Over the coming months we can expect an official release of the ‘Glass Heart EP’ by Katie Noonan & cln, as well as a new cln ep (or album if we’re that lucky) before the year’s end.
